Irdeto and Neotion team up to combine Conditional Access Technology with an MPEG-4 Codec

Irdeto, a world leader in content security, subsidiary of multinational media group Naspers (NASDAQ: NPSN and JSE: NPN), and Neotion, a French high tech company pioneering the MPEG-4 breakthrough standard, today announced the integration of Irdeto's Conditional Access (CA) technology into Neotion’s Pocket dTV series of MPEG-4 decoders.
Under the agreement, Neotion integrates Irdeto’s content security into Neotion’s MPEG-4 silicon and modules, enabling DTH, DTT and IP operators to maximise their revenues, while increasing customer satisfaction. The MPEG-4 module can be integrated in a MPEG-2 TV, which increases the available bandwidth, allowing a wider range of services and programs. The Irdeto CA integrated module will pave the way towards MPEG-4 and hybrid IP capabilities without the use of an STB.
Irdeto and Neotion will continue to develop their combined technologies, tackling the consumer market with MPEG-4 modules, pocket IP decoders and combo versions; and the industrial segments through the offering of pre-certified chips that will expand the availability of Irdeto’s MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 capable equipment.
