RFoG Optical Network MicroNode is intended to deploy and improve all-fiber PON and HFC distribution networks allowing bi-directional in-home content delivering over existing home coaxial cabling.
RFoG MicroNode provides cable operators with capability to build modern reliable distribution network that offer cost savings while leveraging existing investments in headend and customer premises equipment as well as operational and billing support subsystems.
FORO-tel presents a new type of optical equipment for deploying and improving all-fiber optical and HFC distribution networks allowing bi-directional services over existing home coaxial cabling. It’s a RFoG Optical MicroNode transparent to existing interactive services (VoD, VoIP, DOCSIS) and leveraging operator’s investments in headend and customer premises equipment.
RFoG Optical MicroNode, having standard optical input wavelength 1310 or 1550 nm and input optical power range –6…0 dBm, provides downstream RF output above 80 dbuV at frequency range 47/85…1000 MHz enough to support the most in-home applications (set-top boxes, LCD TV, cable modems) without additional amplifiers. Over this RF connector MicroNode can also accept upstream RF signal from residental units within dynamic range of 75…100 dBuV placed at 5…30/65 MHz, then MicroNode converts it to +2…+4 dBm optical output at 1550/1590/1610 nm shared the same SC/APC optical connector using WDM. Data service protocols and modulation formats are no matter for RFoG units.
Saving existing home coaxial cabling, RFoG MicroNode allows cable operators to eliminate both short-term deploying and long-term operational expenses associated with power HFC nodes, RF amplifiers, stable powering system etc, and offers the ability to meet today’s broadband demands expanding BW up to 13% for downstream and 37% for upstream without ingress especially below 10 MHz.
