In the Ukrainian market of satellite television the demand for TV programs in HD will grow. This is the opinion of CEO of MyTV, a satellite TV provider.
According to Feldman, this forecast is confirmed by the volume of HD-resolution supporting TVs sold: for example, last year the sales of such devices made more than 31.8 % of total sales of television sets.
"Since the supply of HDTV channels in Ukraine has been sparse, providers offer access to them for a fairly high price, similarly to what is happening in other countries", said Feldman.
The major demand for high-definition television is observed among the viewers living in large cities, who are more exacting to the quality of display.
Considering the demand in the territorial aspect, the majority of those preferring to watch digital television live in the western part of the country, where rugged relief restricts the distribution of terrestrial and cable television. Central part of Ukraine and Kiev rank second, where there is higher standard of living", said Feldman.
According to him, foreign HD-channels do not hurry to enter the Ukrainian market, since the adaptation of the HD-product for the Ukrainian viewer requires considerable financial costs for translation and dubbing, subtitling.
