The mobile operator Kyivstar has presented documents to the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council for licensing as a provider of the IPTV program service, acting head of the National Council Andrey Miroshnichenko has reported at the briefing.
Earlier, the President of Kyivstar, Igor Litovchenko, said that IPTV was one of the operator’s priorities then. "We are planning to develop not only the Internet, but IP telephony and television as well.We are going to receive a license for this type of service.These are our priorities today", said Mr. Litovchenko. It should be noted that Ukrtelecom telecommunication company was also planning to launch the IPTV service.But the absence of a license for providing this service postponed its commercial exploitation for an indefinite term.Earlier Ukrtelecom had planned to launch IPTV on December 1, 2009. Earlier a member of theNational Television and Radio Broadcasting Council Ihor Kurus had announced the intention to offer radio frequencies in the range of 700-800 MHz to mobile operators for LTE communication in return for funding the implementation of digital TV in Ukraine.
