The National Communication Regulation Commission (NCRC) may issue regional licenses for the range of 5.2–5.3 GHz for 802.16 (WiMax) standard without a tender, the NCRC member Volodymyr Oliynyk reports.
According to Mr. Oliynyk, the demand for the frequencies of 5.2–5.3 GHz is low. Therefore, there do not appear to be sufficient reasons for holding tenders to distribute them. And it is very likely that frequencies in this range will be issued upon a market participant’s request. It should be noted that market participants press for the opportunity to receive narrow bands of 20 MHz during the issuance of these licenses.
